Our Challenge
More than 5,000 underprivileged students in Gujarat alone pass 12th grade every year, but . . .
They are unable to afford the costs of higher education in science, including medicine, pharmacy, nursing, engineering, technology, and computer science. Why?
The yearly cost to attend college is = to the average yearly earnings for their entire family.
A family earning $1,000 a year cannot afford $1,000 a year toward one child’s education. And while many charities help fund school education, they rarely fund graduate level professional degree programs.
Help elevate entire families out of poverty
Our Solution
E2G loans are set up to cover the average shortfall of $1,000 yearly, for 4-5 years per student, including tuition, lodging, boarding, and supplies for their degree in engineering (4 years) or medicine (5 years).
The loan is repaid after the student graduates and gets a job.
To qualify, students must maintain a minimum grade average and good behavior. Our partners in India advise and mentor the students through to graduation, including setting up repayment plans based on each graduate’s professional earning potential.
Our Results
Over the last nine years, more than 1,300 scholars have participated in the E2G program.
Of those, more than 400 have graduated and the majority of them are earning between $450 and $1,500 a month at reputable companies.

This is only a fraction of the demand in Gujarat alone. Additionally, Share and Care hopes to expand into other states with the help of dependable partners and donors.
Ms. Bhagyavati Naidu, from Valsad, is the daughter of a tailor earning 60,000 rupees/year ($968). With E2G program support for four years, Bhagyavati will earn her degree in bio-medical engineering from L.D. College of Engineering in Ahmedabad next month, March 2015, and will be working at Tata Consultancy Services with a starting salary of 3.18 lakhs/year ($5,130).
