Share & Care has an institutional and cultural connection with the people and traditions of Nepal. We are forging sustained connections through compassion and action. In that spirit, we extend our hearts and minds to our Nepalese friends who are confronting heartbreaking death, injury, and devastation. Amid the vast destruction, Nepal’s cultural heritage has also been severely impacted, with many landmarks reduced to rubble.
Nepal reminds us of the 2001 Gujarat earthquake. Through strength and experience in responding overnight to major catastrophes—including the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1983, Latur earthquake of 1990, Indian tsunami of 2004, Kashmir earthquake of 2006, Hurricane Sandy in 2012, and the Uttarakhand floods in 2013—Share & Care has mobilized its resources again for Nepal. Our core strengths as a charitable organization has always included livelihood and skill building: rebuilding lives by creating opportunities. 
Update: Our reliable and effective partners on the ground received the first shipment of 250 tents. These are being distributed in the Bugmati, Khokna, and Gorkha villages and the Pabitra Samaj Sewa Nepal orphanage. We are currently providing immediate assistance with emergency supplies, and are actively planning our long-term support.
Asana is 11 Years Old
When the earthquake struck her village on April 25, Asana and her family saw all of their life savings, and roof over their head destroyed in an instant. They were homeless. The family goat was crushed under the weight of their collapsed home. Asana experienced fear over and over again as the ground shook again and again. Asana feared for her own, her family’s, and every life around her.
Asana’s family has put in a request to aid workers for a tent. In the meantime, they have been sleeping in the rubble of the home that once gave them shelter. Many children in Nepal are like Asana—they are sleeping on the street without shelter, food, or clean water. They are frightened and many are alone. Asana worries that she won’t be able to study or go to school because all of her books were destroyed or buried. This is their new life with trauma, without any hope.
Many of you are looking for ways to help the affected communities in the region. Let us all work together to support hundreds of households, schools, and clinics that have completely collapsed or been extensively damaged and no longer safe to enter or use in and around the 35 peripheral settlements in Kathmandu Valley.
100% of your donation will go directly to support the relief and rehabilitation process. Initially, the fund will respond to meet survivors’ immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter.
Once initial relief work is complete, this fund will transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run by vetted partner organizations.
